The fleet carried spinnakers in the northerly breeze the as far as Lymington where there was a tricky windless transition zone before the breeze filled in from the South West sometimes blowing up to 20 knots.
In the Multihull Class, Peter Bryant's Formula 40 trimaran PROVU took line honours in a time of 3 hours 4 minutes, with the F-33R, just 11 minutes behind, and the only two boats to finish in under four hours. Victory on corrected time went to CARBON TIGER II with Tony Purser's Banshee 35 BACKLASH second, and Simon Forbes' Dragonfly 800 SCOOBY III third.
Sunday's race back to Poole in a westerly breeze was a light spinnaker run to the Solent with a strong rain squall and winds over 25 knots in the Solent. PROVU again took line honours in a time of 2 hours 43 minutes but victory on corrected time again went to CARBON TIGER II with SCOOBY III second, and PROVU third, CARBON TIGER II winning overall.
