An F-27 in Denmark

John Runge has been sailing his F-27 in Denmark and writes:

Dear Ian.

It has been a pleasure to own #409 (former Extrabreit) which I bought from Germany this spring. I have been looking at your designs for nearly a decade, I really like your way of thinking and the boat has fully behaved to my expectations.

This weekend we (my son and I) sailed the boat on an autumn trip of 100 nm in 2 days (2x6 hours). 14-18 m/s, very choppy sea 4-8 feet from different directions. Two reefs in the main and half reefed roller genoa. No problems. A jib and two Melges 24 genakkers (1 heavy, 1 light) will be in the wardrobe for the next year, bowsprit, and  a larger refurbishment of the bottom.

All season there are 71 women sailing here in Thurø (Svendborg. Denmark) on Wednesdays. I offered them to try to sail  F-27 every Wednesday. New crew every time. I became a very popular man in the sailing club and everyone was very excited of the way of sailing. Light, easy and upright.

Once again thank you for a good design.

Best regards

John Runge
